This Week: Three Projects, Three (Cyber) Meetings

City working on rapid implementation of new Bike (+) Plan

With finalizing the Bike (+) Plan, the City’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure (DOMI) has, in partnership with BikePGH and Healthy Ride, initiated a program to accelerate its implementation. In addition to installing infrastructure, the program, known at MoveForwardPGH, also includes a marketing campaign to help people understand the benefits of less stressful and clearer streets for everyone.

There are three meetings this week to go over three different projects that are part of the program to expand a well-connected bike network. The meetings will all be hosted online.

Brighton Road Bike Lanes Public Meeting

Tuesday, June 23 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Two blocks of Brighton Road, from Ridge Avenue to W North Avenue, are a part of this initial project. This project will connect to the existing bike network along W Ohio Street in Allegheny Commons Park and the cycle-track around Allegheny Circle. It will also provide safer access for bicyclists entering the business district along Western Avenue.

North Euclid Neighborway Meeting

Wednesday, June 24 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The North Euclid Avenue Neighborway will better connect Highland Park to other neighborhoods, including Morningside and East Liberty. The project goes between Station St and Bunkerhill St, and offers an alternative to the busy Highland and North Negley Avenues.

Bloomfield / Friendship Neighborway Public Meeting

Thursday, June 25 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Using Coral Ave and Comrie Way, the Bloomfield Friendship Neighborway will better connect Bloomfield and Friendship neighborhoods to others, including Lower and Central Lawrenceville, North Oakland and East Liberty, while offering an alternative to the busy arterials Penn Avenue and Centre Avenue. It will also connect to Pittsburgh’s existing bike network on Liberty Avenue and Negley Avenue.
